TEAM PSYCHO SHINOBI vs TEAM DYNAMITE
Banned Characters: Balrog and Guile
Team DYNAMITE focused its ban on Caba’s Guile, forcing him to use a secondary character. Caba started very strong with a very impressive Ryu against Smug’s G in the first matchup of the Team Battle. Any mistake against a high damage character like G is extremely costly and Smug forced enough mistakes to win 2-0.
PSYCHO SHINOBI’s captain HotDog29 came out next and evened the Team Battle score with a win against Gamerbee 2-0. HotDog29’s M.Bison play was incredibly patient and precise, not allowing Gamerbee’s Seth to establish any rhythm.
The next matchup between MenaRD and Xian started off strongly in MenaRD’s favor as his Birdie established control over Xian’s Seth. Starting with the second game that momentum shifted and by the end of the third game Xian’s Seth was completely in charge. Xian’s 2-1 win gave PSYCHO SHINOBI the lead once again.
The two team captains in HotDog29 and Smug were up next and it was every bit as exciting as you would expect between two amazing players with explosive characters. The back and forth between these two players was thrilling to watch and it came down to a heart stopping final hit by Hotdog29 to earn the 2-1 victory and give his team its first win of the season. Team PSYCHO SHINOBI has shown itself incredibly formidable in this first Team Battle.
TEAM ALL-IN vs TEAM NASR
Banned Characters: Akuma and Poison
The second Team Battle of the week was iDom’s Team ALL-IN against Big Bird’s Team NASR. Both teams got wins last week with ALL-IN earning the season’s first team sweep against Team ALPHA 3. Counterbalancing that is NASR’s AngryBird, who got the season’s first OCV, taking out Team UYU single-handedly.
Team NASR started with AngryBird this week against 801 Strider. AngryBird picked up where he left off last week with the same look of grim determination, using his aggressive Seth playstyle to completely oppress 801 Strider’s G. AngryBird gave NASR its first win 2-0.
SKZ, who took out ALPHA 3’s Punk last week, convincingly defeated Samurai in the next matchup 2-0. Samurai’s Akuma was banned once again so he played Kage. SKZ’s Seth was on another level, proving that SKZ is a force to be reckoned with even against players with much more high level tournament experience.
Team captains iDom and Big Bird faced off next and iDom once again proved why he is so dangerous with his Laura. Big Bird got to play his main in Rashid this week but iDom’s Laura with her big damage mix-ups delivered a 2-1 win for his team.
AngryBird once again came on like a player possessed, defeating SKZ in a breath-taking Seth mirror-match 2-1 that came down to the very last round. He continued his rampage against iDom, taking the first game. The matchup between iDom and AngryBird was a battle of wills with both sides trying to impose their withering offense on the other. iDom adapted and won the next two games to earn a hard-fought 2-1 victory, handing AngryBird his first loss. This was an absolutely incredible Team Battle from start to finish.
Teams ALL-IN is the standings leader at 2-0 this week after the thrilling this week against Team NASR. Team NASR moves to 1-1. PSYCHO SHINOBI got its first win this week and goes to 1-0 while teams UYU, DYNAMITE and ALPHA 3 stand at 0-1. This is only week two and we have many more ahead!
